Community Service Participant

Community service is something in which youth involved with llamas can participate. LANA will be awarding community service awards to youth entering this competition. Such service work would include works done by you for FREE. You can not be reimbursed either financially or otherwise for this work. You do not need to be a member of LANA in order to participate.

Contest is open to all youth 8 - 18 years of age.

Age categories are as follows:

Category 1: Youth age 8-13

Category 2: Youth age 14-18

Gold, silver and bronze medal winners will be selected from each age category and each will receive an Expo Youth program scholarship in addition to their medal. They will be recognized at Expo and/or published in the LANA newsletter.

Judging Criteria:

A. Numbers of hours spent in service

B. Versatility of works - litter pick-up, nursing homes, etc.

C. Documentation- something attractive and simple: include photos of work and thank-you notes received, newspaper articles, photos, etc. Keep it simple like a scrapbook.

D. Originality and creativity - creative ways you find to use your llamas to help your community.

E. Use scrapbook or 3 ring binder. All entries must be neatly printed in ink or typewritten. Include: Name, age, address, city, state, zip, phone number (including area code)

All entries shall be accompanied by a note form parent or guardian verifying service work was done by the entrant.

All services must have been completed within the last 12 months.

Postmark deadline for Community Service Project is May 10, 2008. Judging will be completed and winners will be announced at the 2008 LANA EXPO in Fallon, NV. Scrapbooks may be displayed at the LANA EXPO. Winners will be notified by phone.
