CHECK IN
LANA has reserved the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds from Friday, Feb 4th to Sunday, Feb. 6th. There will be someone on hand to show you to your stalling area and choosing your camping or RV site. The show registration desk will be open Friday during the day, and early Saturday morning.
FUN CLASSES – Friday
Judging for the Maiden Obstacle, Maiden Public Relations, Sub-Junior Obstacle (under 8 years old), and Youth and Adult Costume will take place Friday evening. Maiden performance classes are for llamas or alpacas that have never been shown in a performance class.
Unique gifts for the top three placements in all the fun classes.
PERFORMANCE CLASSES – Saturday
Judges meeting at 8:00 am. Classes start at 8:30 am.
The Performance classes will be held on Saturday starting with the driving classes. The Gold and Silver driving classes will be judged at the same time. The three performances courses will be set up with the Silver judge on the Obstacle course and the Gold judge of the P.R. course. After those two classes are finished, the judges will split judging duty in the pack classes. When all exhibitors have gone through the first time, there will be adjustments made to the courses. Then the exhibitors will go through again for the second time for the other half of their respected shoe (i.e. Silver judge on P.R. and Gold judge on Obstacle, then splitting positions in the Pack class)
Performance Classes: Animals may only be in one performance division. Animals showing in the Youth division may not show in the Novice, Advanced, or Masters division.
Novice: An animal can stay in Novice until it has achieved the ALSA Novice Performance Champion Award by earning 3 Grand Championships and 2 Reserves, or 4 Grand Championship. After earning that award, the animal must move up to Advanced.
Advanced: An animal can stay in Advance until it has achieved the ALSA
Performance Champion Award by earning 3 Grand Championships and 2 Reserves, or 4 Grand Championship in Open or Advanced Performance. It may move to Master Performance. The exception is if an animal is working toward the ALSA Elite Award which requires 6 Grand Championships in Open or Advanced Performance. Once an animal has achieved 6 Performance Grand Championships it must move to the Masters Performance Division. Masters may be combined with Advance classes if there are not enough for entries for a Masters division.
Pack classes: Total weight for packs will be 20 pounds for llamas 36 months or older, and 10 pounds for alpacas 36 months or older. All animals 36 months or older must be outfitted with a full pack system, consisting of saddle, two cinches, and two removable panniers. Animals between the ages of 5 to 36 months must carry a pack system or training pack with two cinches. These animals must not carry measurable weight. All panniers, regardless of animal’s age or division, must be fully filled out (filled out being defined as filled to the extent that there is no lax pannier material, representative of a pannier packed for an extended pack trip).
All recent ALSA rule changes effective January 1, 2010 will be followed.
LANA offers a $3.00 discount per class entry for the Hobo and Round Up shows
for all LANA members.
HALTER & SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES – Sunday
Judges meeting at 8:00 am. Classes start at 8:30 with Showmanship followed by the halter classes.
Llamas may not be moved from one halter class to another after Halter judging has begun, except at the discretion of the judge.
The Classic and Light Wool will be combined unless there are enough entries for two separate divisions.
Novice Showmanship: Not an ALSA point class. This class is for exhibitors who have never entered an Advanced Showmanship class and/or who have earned no more than three ribbons in either first, second, or third place in Open or Novice Showmanship.
YOUTH CLASSES
The Youth Division will be combined into one class. However, the youth division may be divided at the discretion of Show management upon review of the youth entries received.
Youth categories: Junior – 8 through 11 years of age
Intermediate – 12 through 14 years of age
Senior – 15 through 18 years of age as of Jan. 1st, 2010
ALSA recommends that youth exhibitors 12 years of age or younger not show intact males over 24 months of age. Show management will allow youth exhibitors to show intact males as long as they appear to be able to safely control the animal, but will dismiss any animal that appears to be a danger to its handler or others.
There will be no Youth Judging offered this year. Entry refunds for cancellations
STALLS
Horse Stalls: There are horse stalls with dutch doors located a short distance to the arena. $45.
Self-Penning: Animals can be staked out or housed with your own panels near your campsite or RV. There is a fee of $5 per self-penned or staked out animal.
(Limited self-pen space in the halter barn and performance barns. Sponsors will have first priority to those areas. Next priority given according to earliest registrants)
Bedding in the pens or stalls may be mats or straw. Owners must supply their own feed, water buckets, clean-up tools and daily cleanup.
PLEASE clean up your pen, stall or self-penned area at the end of the show.
CAMPING
Tent camping is $12 a night with or without electricity.
RVs are $25 a night with or without electricity and water.
DOGS
Family dogs are welcome; however, not all alpacas and llamas are comfortable around dogs. As a courtesy to others, all dogs must be on leash. Please carry a plastic baggie with you and be sure to clean up after your animal.
SHOW SPONSORSHIP
Support the show and publicize your farm at the same time. There are three levels of sponsorship. Sponsors will be included in the show program and announced during the show.
