WHAT TO EXPECT
September 10-12, 2010
Quincy lies at an altitude of approximately 4000 feet. The day time temperatures in early September range in the 80s while the nights can get into the mid 50s. At this altitude it is always cooler. There is a Safeway Grocery Store in Quincy and a Save Mor Grocery just west of the fairgrounds. Next to the fairgrounds is a park with a swimming pool. A feed store is located at the west end of town.
DIRECTIONS:
Quincy lies on Hwy 70 and you can’t miss it. The Fairgrounds are on the east side of town. Just watch for the signs.
Coming from the west find Hwy 70 just outside of Oroville. Follow 70 along the Feather River over a highway that hasn’t changed much since it was built in the 30s. A wonderful, leisurely drive over old bridges, through rock tunnels and past old summer cabins built in the 30’s. Take your time this is a scenic area and you are on holiday.
Coming from the east locate Hwy 70 on your map and follow it through the tall pines and mountain meadows.
Coming from the north you can take Hwy 36 off Hwy 5 out of Red Bluff until you come to Hwy 89.
Follow this Hwy past Lassen Park and along Lake Almanor, a beautiful drive.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The best part about these fairgrounds is they allow us to tent camp and park RVs. More importantly we can pen or stake out our animals right outside our camp/RV sites. This is the most fun. There are great showers conveniently located. If you have a canopy you might want to bring it for extra shade.
There are only a couple of motels in town, both not far from the fairgrounds to the east. You need to make reservations early to be assured of a room. If you are staying in a motel or choose to pen your llamas unmovable pens are available.

FOOD:
The only meal LANA is planning on serving will be the Saturday night social dinner. Our own great chefs, Greg Sykes and Robin and Nancy Hester will be serving a luscious stuffed pork loin roast with all the trimmings. If you cannot eat pork or are a vegetarian please make a note on your dinner order. A special thanks to Rick and Jan Rogala for their generous donation of the dinner wine from their own winery.
You will need to provide your breakfasts and lunches on Saturday and Sunday.
Come early and renew old friendships, make new ones. You can check in Friday when you like. Show Registration will be Friday afternoon. Late check in available Saturday morning.
