LANA EXPO 2008 ALSA SHOW
The 2008 LANA Expo in Fallon, Nevada added an ALSA sanctioned Llama Fleece Show, which included both Shorn and Walking Fleece Divisions. The Llama Fleece Show was well received by attendees.
Llamas produce excellent fiber that can be utilized in a variety of ways. The ALSA sanctioned Llama Fleece Show fit well into the LANA educational setting since it epitomizes LANA educational goals. Llamas produce outstanding fiber that can be hand or commercially made into a variety of end products. It was wonderful looking at the beautiful variety of shorn fleeces on display throughout the LANA Expo.
Adjacent to the tables displaying the ALSA Llama Fleece Show, (Shorn Fleeces) we were very fortunate to have many of the fabulous items hand made by Fiber Artist Marilyn Milton from her herd of llamas. Not only did Marilyn display some exceptional garments exquisitely handmade from llama fiber, she also donated several items to the LANA Expo fundraiser.
The visual effects of viewing raw fleeces while comparing the unlimited potential of the fleeces, as exceptional yarn and finished items such as hats, sweaters, scarves, purses and llama art is extremely inspiring.
The LANA Gold and Silver ALSA Halter, Performance and Driving Show really helped to round out a fun packed LANA Expo 2008. Sincere thanks to all of the outstanding LANA members who volunteered time, expertise, labor and donations to make this Expo such a great success.
